Pro-Gun Groups Plan ‘Gun Appreciation Day’ For Inauguration Weekend

Source: TPM

EVAN MCMORRIS-SANTORO 12:39 PM EST, MONDAY JANUARY 7, 2013

A coaltion of pro-gun groups is calling for a nationwide "Gun Appreciation Day" for Jan. 19.

Details from the Washington Post:

The group is emulating the anti-gay marriage activists who made the Christian fast food chain Chick-fil-A into a national conservative cause with “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.”

The group is asking supporters to turn out in droves at gun stores, gun counters, gun shows, and gun ranges to protest what they see as government overreach in the wake of the Sandy Hook elementary school shootings.

your nice warm cuddly gun.

What do you do say "thank you gun"?
I don't know about using the word appreciate about an inanimate object.

Is this like Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, where people take three hours of vacation time to spend in line with other chubby, mullet-haired nobodies to spend money on yet another thing they don't need?

I'm for responsible gun ownership. It would be a better day spent teaching the responsibility of gun use and ownership in the United States. This is about our rights as American Citizens. We have the responsibility of advanced citizenship in this country. Those that deny the responsibility we carry. Make this a day of safety and education to make it clear that we not only have these rights, but also continue to earn them by being smart citizens.

I gotta say, this plan is tone-deaf, and insulting.

Does nothing to further the idea of law abiding gun owners as responsible, mature adults.

proving once again that fear and stupidity are their best selling tools.

Notice that it's happening again in the early part of the year to get rid of their old inventory.

so amusing.
