Rapper Rick Ross crashes car into building after shooting: report
Source: Chicago Tribune
A Rolls-Royce owned by rapper Rick Ross smashed into a building in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., early today after it was the target of gunfire, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
A woman who woke up to the sounds of a car crashing into her apartment building after police were called about reports of gunfire said Ross was one of two people inside the vehicle, according to one report.
Beth Balk, a waitress at the nearby Floridian Restaurant, told the Sun Sentinel she was asleep on the couch when she heard the crash, saw a silver Rolls Royce up against her building and looked outside to see a man and a woman who appeared to be stunned.
Balk was shown a picture of the rapper and said, "Yes, that's definitely the guy."

Quite a bit of essential US history in this piece that most establishment news media has refused to touch the last 20 years. After reading this, some of you will have greater understanding of why the corporate media has always shown a concerted effort to marginalize Kerry publicly.

Long forgotten today is the resolve Kerry had to have to almost singularly stand up to the Reagan & Bush administration. All despite the McCarthyesqe efforts used to make him seem crazed for his ground breaking investigation.
-Though John Kerry's early warnings about White House-aided Contra gunrunning had proved out, his accusations about Contra drug smuggling would continue to be rejected by much of the press corps as going too far.
On Jan. 21, 1987, the conservative Washington Times attacked Kerry's Contra-drug investigation again; his alleged offense this time was obstructing justice because his probe was supposedly interfering with the Reagan administration's determination to get at the truth. "Kerry's staffers damaged FBI probe," the Times headline read. Congressional investigators for Sen. John Kerry severely damaged a federal drug investigation last summer by interfering with a witness while pursuing allegations of drug smuggling by the Nicaraguan resistance. The drift of the article made Kerry out to be something of a dupe. His Contra-cocaine witnesses were depicted as simply convicts trying to get lighter prison sentences by embroidering false allegations onto the Iran-Contra scandal. But the information in the Times story was patently untrue. The AP Contra-cocaine story had run in December 1985, almost a year before the Iran-Contra story broke. -- Salon.com
Made into a pariah much like Gary Webb, the reporter that wrote Dark Alliance on the Iran Contra in 1996, people simply wanted it all to go away because within Kerry's accusation was a darker reality than discovered in any international relations scandal in American History. "Kerry wanted to get to the bottom of something so dark,... Nobody could imagine it was so dark." Miami-based federal public defender John Mattes told Salon. The possibility the United States government might be involved in the cocaine trade, while at the same time it was writing some of the harshest known sentences in the world if its citizens sold those same drugs once they arrived to shore.

but did live to tell about it:
"(There are) no suspects and we not here to speculate on any suspects," Ross told MTV News on the red carpet. "I'm just staying positive, I'm moving forward and I'm just staying on top of my game." That doesn't mean he's taking the botched hit lightly.
"You most definitely gotta make some adjustments," he said. "But at the same time I'mma live my life and I'mma do what I love to do, and that's make music."

Ross, 39, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, and his 42-year-old bodyguard Nadrian James are...in jail after a Fayette County, Georgia, magistrate judge denied the two bail...Zamudio suffered chipped front teeth and a broken jaw, and was limited to eating his meals through a straw. Ross, meanwhile, is being charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and kidnappingand the arrest came just a week after Ross was stopped by Atlanta police in his Bentley and subsequently arrested for possession of marijuana...
Rosss lawyer Adamma McKinnon told The Daily Beast her client...is in high spirits...and...that hes being framed for being famous... Asked if the sex tape played in Manhattan Supreme Court (Rosss ex is currently suing 50 Cent for defamation) the day before the alleged incident with his groundskeeper sent the rapper into a rage, McKinnon said she didnt know...
It seems Ross had reason to be upsetwith 50 Cent...(Their) longstanding feud reportedly began in January 2009, when Ross is said to have looked at Fiddy the wrong way at the BET Awards...
A six-year feud founded on a dirty look? I guess they both deserve credit for not being dead yet. As for being framed -- by who, his bodyguard? Either Ross did help beat up the guy, or he didn't. And as for acquitting Ross for taking out his anger at Fifty on the help, that's a little thin as defense strategies go, counselor!

Ross was there along with a bunch of other rappers -- Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes, J. Cole, Wale and DJ Khaled -- to support Obama's Brother's Keeper youth initiative, ironically to keep men of color out of trouble.
It was a serious and fancy affair -- enough to get Ross in a suit, which covered the ankle monitor he has to wear, a condition of release in his kidnapping case.
...Obama finished his speech when Ross' anklet ripped through the silence...
I guess rapper Nicki Minaj (who "troubled" male youth of color in another way by posing for this statue), was filling in for her current heartthrob rapper Meek Mill, who's on house arrest with a tracking anklet of his own -- how hard it is for Obama's staff to run a simple background check? But I guess anyone can pass as a role model for youth if they can make a big enough donation.

(44,577 posts)The indictment also says that in November 2012 the gang threatened a rapper, identified only by the initials "R.R.," with violence unless he paid them for using the gang's name and symbols. Prosecutors declined to identify the artist, but rapper Rick Ross has mentioned the gang in lyrics. Ross canceled shows around the time the threats were made, but he told WEDR radio in Miami in December 2012: "I canceled the rest of the tour due to a promoter, because he wasn't really handling his business...Never was it due to any threats."
Helpful hint for the day: When you find yourself with a promoter who isn't handling his business, and you have money begging to be made by touring...get another promoter!
