Police: Ex-LAPD officer sought in killings (of young Orange Cty CA couple)
Source: Orange County Register
IRVINE Police have identified a former Los Angeles Police Department officer suspected of shooting a newly engaged couple to death in an Irvine parking garage.
Irvine police Chief Dave Maggard at a news conference Wednesday night asked for the public's help in locating Christopher Jordan Dorner in connection with the deaths of Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence. Keith Lawrence, 27, and his fiance, Monica Quan, 28, were found shot inside a parked car on the top floor of a parking structure in Irvine late Sunday.
Maggard declined to specify a motive for the shootings but indicated that police had uncovered a "multi-page manifesto" written by Dorner in which he "implicated himself in the slayings."

This is about the senseless murder of the young couple in Irvine CA who were basketball stars at Concordia College.
This now sounds like a hate crime. So sad.
Edit to correct: Probably not a hate crime. Bloggers are saying suspect was fired from LAPD and wrote manifesto vowing revenge to those he considers responsible for his firing.

(53,339 posts)LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) In a long, rambling manifesto addressed to The Nation with the subject Last Resort, former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner a fired LAPD officer accused in a double homicide in Irvine laid out a long list of concerns, slights, charges and threats against fellow LAPD officers who he blames for a 2008 termination.
In the 20-page document, Dorner gives shout outs to various people in the news media he admires (among them Anderson Cooper), entertainers he liked (including Charlie Sheen), he discusses presidents he liked (Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush) and even suggests who Hillary Clinton should pick for her running mate in 2016. He says goodbye to many friends, and apologizes to one for not being able to make it to the wedding to be your best man. But mostly the document was filled with bitter accusations against other offices he accused of racial discrimination, hostility and retaliation.

Retired LAPD Captain Randy Quan was his lawyer at his LAPD hearing.
Quan is the father of Monica Quan who was murdered, along with her fiancee, on Sunday evening in Irvine.
In the manifesto, he accused the LAPD of suppressing the truth and this has led to deadly consequences.
He said, Ive lost everything because the LAPD took my name and new (cq) I was innocent. Randy Quan new (cq) I was innocent but decided to terminate me.

On edit: The search for Dorner, who was fired from the LAPD in 2008 for making false statements, began after he was linked to a weekend killing in which one of the victims was the daughter of a former police captain who had represented him during the disciplinary hearing. Authorities believe Dorner opened fire early Thursday on police in cities east of Los Angeles, killing an officer and wounding another. (link)
