Sixty-four people including school children died on Saturday in a bomb attack carried out by extremists from Pakistan's Sunni Muslim majority, police said.

A spokesman for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Sunni group, claimed responsibility for the bomb in Quetta, which caused casualties in the town's main bazaar, a school and a computer center. Police said most of the victims were Shi'ites.

Burned school bags and books were strewn around.

"The explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device fitted to a motorcycle," said Wazir Khan Nasir, deputy inspector general of police in Quetta.

1. That country is a giant mess

The Shia (many of them) believe that the group (who claimed they are) responsible for this one and the January bombing have ties to the ISI and the regional government- meaning many believe the people who are supposed to protect them are complicit with the terrorists.

That country is one messed up place.

Not just want them, like the other two-bit dictatorships in the Middle East like Iran.

At least 63 people have been killed and many more wounded in a bomb attack in a Shia-dominated part of the south-western Pakistani city of Quetta.

As many as 180 people were injured in the bombing in the ethnic Hazara area of the city, police say.

If this big, old mean empire just left this peaceful nuclear state alone, the nukes would never fall into the wrong hands and create a geopolitical nightmare.

tried the policy of "if doesnt happen in the US then it wont effect us and we should ignore it" like was tried back in the early 20th century prior to WWI and WWII.

In other words CG we are part of this world whether you like it or not.

8. Shows that why, there are indeed bad people in that area of the world, regardless of the USA

and they just killed scores and scores including innocent people and children.

Why, they just killed more people in one day, than drones have added up months and months and months.

This should lay to rest the claptrap those in the alt-media uses.

I grieve for the loss of those who died from these terrorists hands.
Terrorists that exist whether or not the US existed at all.

May those terrorists be dealt with swiftly.

(BTW, I remember the outcry when another Democratic president, Clinton, did not go into Rwanda, from the same people in the same alt-media on both sides, that cry about drones now. What a song and dance it is.)

Yes Virginia(to paraphrase the old Christmas editorial), there are bad people in this world,
regardless of anything about the US at all. Have been long before the USA existed, and to this day.

If only all terrrorists in the world can be handled before they did the event they did.

Vigilantism either private or by group, is not tolerable.

9. Unfortunately, this is what life is like in that country

Most minorities have been driven out of Pakistan, and by that I don't mean non Muslims - most of whom were killed or forced out during partition, but non-Sunni Muslims as well.

And no, this is not our fault. While we have never got a great handle on the region, this is what happens when a government gives tacit support to terrorist groups with the hopes of fighting a proxy war (in this case against India and Afghanistan). Their reckless behavior has come to bite them in the ass making their country a hotbed of extremism and turmoil.

My deepest sympathies to the families of those killed.

10. The biggest regret we will ever have will be not keeping the "club" to two.

We helped GB. France didn't trust us to defend against the Reds rolling West...and built their own.

Stalin helped China.

Now here we are, in a span that is but a spec on the timeline of the universe. And the club continues to grow, and there is no end in sight.

We like to pretend that it is impossible for a fundamentalist overthrow of Pakistan to happen...as if it didn't happen in Egypt and Libya and right now in Syria.

We like to pretend that Delta or SEAL assets are ready to secure Islamabad's nukes at a moment's notice...I just don't buy it.
