Sen. Graham will hold up Brennan for Benghazi answers
Source: USA Today
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham says he is unsatisfied with the White House responses to questions about the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Libya and he will block President Obama's pick to lead the CIA until more information on the Sept. 11 incident is disclosed.
Obama has nominated White House counterterrorism chief John Brennan to replace former CIA director David Petraeus, who resigned after admitting to having an affair.
But Graham told USA TODAY in an interview that he will not allow the nomination to go forward until the White House turns over items it has declined to provide, such as drone video of the attack and e-mails on talking points that falsely claimed the attack was a protest that got out of control.
The role of the Congress is to provide oversight of the executive branch," Graham said. "When Brennan comes up I think it's very relevant what role did he play?"

(13,608 posts)As I've said before, I think this "Benghazi" thing is a holdover from the election when the GOP thought it would somehow get their boy into the White House. The fact that they're still harping on this, when the country at large doesn't care one whit, shows how out of touch the GOP is. Perhaps "Benghazi" is still hot within the RW media Wurlitzer bubble. I wouldn't know as I don't partake.
Having said that, though, I think Brennan should be scuttled anyway because I'm tired of having war criminals in my government, unless it's in a government jail or swinging in a government gallows.

(50,254 posts)It was a surprise attack and there's nothing anybody could have done to stop it, OR to save the Americans who died.
And it would have gone down the exact same way if McCain had won.
It really WAS what it was. Move on, Lindsey.

Rice: "I believe the title was Biden laden determined to strike in the US." Gee Lindsey, where the hell was your righteous indignation back then? Give me a Fucking break!
I'll show the fuzzy math of the Republicans once again:
Bush/Cheney = over 4,000 Americans on 911, over 5,000 US Troops, over 100,000 Iraqi troops and civilians. Total 109,000 deaths on their watch.
Obama/Biden = 4 deaths on their watch
Hey Lindsey, McCain, and the rest you GOP hypocrites: You are 108,996 times FULL OF SHIT!

The group, which will be known as the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, will likely be based at Naval Air Station Sigonella in Sicily, Italy. The team will be capable of rapid deployment for responding to security threats throughout the region including a U.S. embassy under attack.
