Colorado civil unions bill to pass House committee without drama

A year ago, Republican lawmaker B.J. Nikkel's "yes" vote on a civil unions bill in the House Judiciary Committee ignited a firestorm on both sides of the gay-rights issue and led to one of the more tumultuous showdowns in legislative history.

Another civil unions bill will be heard Thursday in Judiciary Committee, but this time the drama and tension are gone. Democrats now control the House 37-28, and the bill will pass.

And that's a good thing, said Rep. Cheri Gerou of Evergreen, the lone House Republican sponsoring the measure.

"It's going to feel so good," she said. "It just needs to pass."

A year ago, Gerou cried on the House floor a day after the civil unions bill died. Republican leaders refused to call it up for debate, even though there were enough votes to pass it.

We need strong stuff like this.

Now Colorado needs to consider an anti-fracking legislation to protect the entire state.

I don't fucking care about the oil & gas assholes here in Colorado. John Hickenlooper needs to resign, citing his pro-fracking leanings (which I suggested repeatedly that he put the fracked water in his beer and ask how his customers like it) and need Joe Garcia to take the helm, strongly suggesting that he take the leadership role seriously to protect the people of Colorado, not find ways to make a quick buck.

to see this legislation pass and to pass some gun regulations. We're coming up on 14 years since Columbine and Coloradans are finally sick and tired of the carnage, especially after Aurora and then Sandy Hook. Now they need to take on evironmental issues involved with fracking and mining.
Believe me the right wingers in this state are having fits over the new legislation, especially gun regs. They will be out in force next election, and we better be ready.
Andrew Romanoff will be running against Coffman in the 6th. He takes no PAC money, so send the man what you can. Romanoff would be a great Congressman.

He has my full support even though he represents the district right next to me (I live in 1st and you know how tiny that district is)
