Oklahoma man acquitted in toddler's shooting death

Source: NewsOK

MUSKOGEE — A Muskogee County jury has acquitted a 22-year-old man charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy.

The jury deliberated less than 30 minutes Tuesday before finding Elbert “Lee” Meeks not guilty in the Dec. 21, 2011, shooting death of Ja'Cion Logan.

A local newspaper reports that Meeks was greeted by cheering supporters when he left the courthouse Tuesday. He has maintained his innocence since his arrest.

If a jury takes just 30 minutes to acquit a person of a capital murder charge involving the death of a child, it's safe to say the prosecutor had no case. What a waste of time and money.

His browser possibly also had its own logs to show he was on and what he was doing.

It's one case where you can be thankful for the lack of privacy.

So, if you're going to commit a crime, hire somebody to post for you from your computer. Then kill him because he knows too much.

just been with friends at a birthday celebration, drinking. He wasn't anywhere near the crime scene. The Grandmother, who initially accused him, even came around to realize it wasn't him during the trial. The jury only took 1/2 hour to turn the guy loose.

I had to look around for a while at different articles. I was interested because I think I know relatives of the accused.

"But Meeks' attorney, Roger Hilfiger, showed jurors computer records that indicated that Meeks was looking at social media websites on a laptop at the time of the fatal shooting."

... are quite portable, aren't they? Hmmm...

BTW, it's good to see a quote from Frank Shaeffer. (Sorry, I never spell his name rite.) He's a rare voice of reason in the wilderness of religion. I like him a lot.

What a waste of time, money, unneeded stress for the innocent, and freedom of the guilty.
