Advocacy group lists Dolan among 'dirty dozen' papal candidates

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

A victim advocacy group named the former archbishop of Milwaukee and current Cardinal of New York on "Dirty Dozen" - a list of papal candidates the organization considers the worst choices in terms of exposing corruption and working with victims of clergy sex abuse.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan is joined by Cardinals Sean O'Malley of Boston, Donald Wuerl of Washington, Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga of Honduras, Norberto Rivera of Mexico, Marc Ouellet of Canada, Peter Turkson of Ghana, George Pell of Australia, Tarcisio Bertone of Italy, Angelo Scola of Italy, Leonardo Sandri of Argentina and Dominik Duka of the Czech Republic on the list released Wednesday by the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.

"We want to urge Catholic prelates to stop pretending that the worst is over regarding the clergy sex abuse and cover up crisis. Tragically, the worst is almost certainly ahead," the group said in a www.snapnetwork.org/dirty_dozen_list">news release.

Thought I'd post this article as it contains the list of names of those most involved with the cover up & it sends the message that "it's not over" for the catholic church...

to the vatican. The horror of it is, the fact that there are a "top" dozen abusers...not just one or two bad apples....is horrific.

The dirty dozen mentioned in this article are just the top prelates involved in covering up thousands of sexual abuse cases.
The catholic church is an institution that incorporates systematic cover up/secrecy policies for pedophilia practices replete within its hierarchy of priests and other members. This practice began many hundreds of years ago as young boys from surrounding villages marched into monasteries and abbeys with hopes of becoming educated priests whilst established monks/priests/prelates watched from balconies and picked out the child/children they would claim for their night visits.

What I meant was that it's horrific that it IS so widespread, and has gone on for so long.
