UN peacekeepers captured by Syrian rebels in Golan Heights
Source: The Independent
A 20-strong United Nations observer mission has been captured by Syrian rebels on the country's border with Israel.
In a video posted on Youtube, a young man saying he was from the "Martyrs of Yarmouk" brigade said the convoy would not be released until forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad withdrew from the village of Jamla, a mile east of the ceasefire line with the Israeli-occupied Golan.
He stood flanked by other rebels brandishing assault rifles, and in front of three UN vehicles.
At least five people can be seen sitting in the vehicles wearing United Nations light blue helmets and bullet-proof vests.
