Rep. Terry (R-NE) renews push for Keystone pipeline

By Joseph Morton

WASHINGTON — Rep. Lee Terry is taking a fresh stab at forcing approval of the Keystone XL pipeline.

The Omaha Republican unveiled draft legislation Thursday that would take authority over the pipeline away from President Barack Obama and seek to clear away any legal obstacles facing the controversial project.

“It's been over four years and thousands of pages of environmental reviews,” Terry said. “The experts have weighed in. Now is the time to build the Keystone Pipeline.”

Terry pointed out that this is the fourth bill he has authored to advance construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. Most of the efforts have failed to win Senate approval, however, and it's unclear that this latest effort would find its way to the president's desk, either.
