CVS Pharmacy Inc. agrees to pay $11 million to settle federal claims filed in Oklahoma
Associated Press 2 hrs ago
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A federal prosecutor says CVS Pharmacy Inc. has agreed to pay $11 million to settle allegations that the company's Oklahoma pharmacies violated record-keeping requirements of the Controlled Substances Act.
U.S. Attorney Sanford Coats in Oklahoma City announced the settlement deal on Wednesday.
Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS acknowledged that its stores must comply with the record-keeping requirements. But the company did not admit liability.
The allegations against CVS included that some of its stores created false Drug Enforcement Administration registration numbers that were sometimes provided to state prescription drug monitoring programs.

I guess it is too difficult to keep records, but charge very high prices for prescriptions..well that they can do with no trouble.

(5,668 posts)unlike Walgreens. Walmart totally pointless
Walgreens does have pretty fast and cheap photo developing. That is when they don't crop the top of the head off when doing an enlargement.
Beyond that, they are not very useful in my opinion.

(8,124 posts)The DEA has also cut off all shipments of Oxycodone and Oxycontin to all CVS in Georgia and Florida.
I was waiting for back surgery after an accident and the DOC gave me Rx for oxycodone for excruciating pain.
The CVS pharmacist wont even comment or tell you if they have it. The pharmacist just said he would not fill the script (It was for 10 pills) and that he was not allowed to talk about it. Then he turned his back and walked away.
Then , he comes back and tells me to get in my car and drive up and down the highway until I find a store that will fill it.
Oh great, I just came from the emergency room, I feel like crap.. still have dried blood on my shirt from flying glass.. and the CVS Pharmacist is telling to me to go out, drive around and seek drugs. Very professional.
True, people like Rush Limbaugh abuse Oxycontin.. but there are people out there who have been in car crashes and honestly need the stuff.

(20,878 posts)Every where you go there is a new CVS to be found and spreading like a cancer throughout the land. If you don't like it, well that is too bad. Their prices are a gouge and the medications I take are usually not in stock and they are very good at losing RX's and what a pain they are to deal with, esp. via mail order.
I am forced to use them whether I like it or not and no, they aren't giving any one out there a "deal". They are crooks.
