House GOP Memo: "Abortion Is the Leading Cause of Death in the Black Community"

House GOP Memo: "Abortion Is the Leading Cause of Death in the Black Community"
—By Nick Baumann| Mon Feb. 6, 2012 9:31 AM PST

Anti-abortion billboards in Atlanta sparked a nationwide controversy last year as Georgia tried to pass a law outlawing abortion on the basis of race. Radiance Foundation

A House GOP memo obtained by Mother Jones argues for a controversial "prenatal discrimination bill" by referring to "black abortions" as distinct from abortions in general and claiming that "abortion is the leading cause of death in the black community." The memo (PDF) was circulated by Republicans on the House judiciary committee on Monday in advance of Tuesday's markup of Rep. Trent Franks' (R-Ariz.) Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act.

Choice is the reason we have low crime rates now. Scientifically proven.

buy groceries for their entire extended families and their still wouldn't be enough abortions to top the death rate in the black community. Ain't enough stupid black folks in the world to buy this load of crap.

And is race listed on Gov't. funded abortions? Not that it ultimately matters. The GOP is increasingly fringe-like. If this doesn't convince ALL races that they're whacked, nothing will.

For the info.

Am I to understand that our "leaders" have been foisting off this legislation annually since 1976?

And am I also to understand that this bill affects Medicaid spending only, and that other less stringently allocated funds are sometimes used to accomplish abortions for lower income level women? Just asking for info. If it were up to any enlightened population, I'm sure abortions would be funded in total.

It seems to start by outlining sex determination abortion practices by Asians then moves on to abortion in Black communities.

Various footnotes point to various studies and documentation (that can most likely be debunked or connected to highly conservative sources I'll bet):
