Graham Claims Suspected Boston Bombers ‘On A Jihad Mission’

Source: TPM

SAHIL KAPUR 12:25 PM EDT, SATURDAY APRIL 20, 2013

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) claimed Saturday on Fox News that the captured Boston bombing suspect was motivated by radical Islam and on a "jihad mission." He urged the Obama administration to declare him an enemy combatant.

"They were on a jihad mission and the reason you want to capture a terrorist is to find out about what other terrorist are up to," Graham said, referring to suspects Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was arrested Friday night, and his brother Tamarlan, who died Thursday in a shootout with police.

"Ask the people in Boston. Radical jihadists are trying to attack us here at home. Every day we face threats from radical Islamists and they are coming through our back yard and trying to radicalize American citizens," the senator said. "The reason we wanted to capture him alive is find out about the attack and find out who he trained with and what connections to ... terrorism."

is an American citizen. The government can get more out of the suspect when his father gets here to America. And the family can find out what REALLY happened. What really happened is what Lindsay Graham is trying to prevent from becoming known in America. And he wants Obama to over react. He wants Americans to grow hatred.

was I ended up laughing at this guy, who is a U.S. Senator and lawyer. Who is trying to condition whom? I guess they need to connect the dots, in order to prove they were sent here to kill people. They still have not found that link yet. I'm glad they took him alive and he will be questioned in a civilian open court. That restricts people like Lindsey from spinning his web.

If it were a jihad mission the perps

would have committed suicide by staying with the bombs

and/or

they would have had an escape plan and the means to
execute said plan

and/or

they might have disguised themselves all along.

It was kind of a shallow, one-off plan.

Those kids had "chump" written all over them from the start.

They had no operational security aside from working in secret with each other, did not effectively protect their identities, used bombs of improper and comparatively ineffective design and placement, continued publicly communicating after the ordeal, and then took off on a six-star Grand Theft Auto chase which, for all its bluster, resulted in the eventual death or capture of the perps.

They probably lasted longer at large than they would have as professionals simply because anti-terror agencies could not predict what they were going to do next--probably because the perpetrators themselves did not know what they were going to do next.

I like Juan Cole's observation that these kids were raised as secular former Soviet muslims. Their father appears not to be devout at all, but he was a hard-ass who rode his children relentlessly, according to reports. The whole thing looks like a "fuck you, Dad" scenario to me.

Those two brothers fell under the spell of some sort of radical religious leader or text, and apparently returned to Islam on their own, but they quite obviously had no training or oversight in the execution of their plan. It seems likely to me that the two of them cooked this stupid idea up entirely on their own, with minimal outside encouragement. They certainly executed it on their own, because if someone who knew what they were doing had any hand in this, it would have been far more bloody and tragic.

Sorry, the drek he is pulling out is worse. No insult to shit intended.

The reason we wanted him alive is so he can stand trial for his crimes. That is the American way.
Something that Graham should know as a Senator.
What a fuckstick.

still on their plates.....lack of gun controls and the resulting deaths, immigration reform, jobs, health care, immigration reform, voting rights, women's rights, etc., etc., etc.

The elected representatives jobs are protected as long as they have uniformed, ignorant, bigots electing them. The Grahams, McCain, McConnel etc., etc., etc., and use the tragedies and heartbreak of others to ignore the long time problems never solved. Much as a magician who uses slight of hand for his/her bag of tricks. Look, Look at the bright shiny object over here. They prosper and our Democracy disintegrates.

They do not study the laws they enact or fail to enact, nor do they write them. Even when they filibuster they do not not what they are truly filibustering. When they use corporations to write the laws which only protect themselves and use Congressional Staff to put it all together and coach our elected Representatives on what to say, we all get a "DO NOTHING CONGRESS," and "Taxation without representation."

And he isn't going to be doing any talking, unless someone can get ahold of a working Ouija board.

But you never know, maybe the captured one does know something of value. I'm sure regular techniques will work on him though. I seriously doubt he's a hardcore type like the dude we waterboarded 168 times or whatever. A sandwich will probably go a long way.
