WINDSOR, Ont. -- "Nothing gets in, nothing goes out."
When the CAW and Electro-Motive Canada meet in a downtown London hotel today to begin hammering out a closure agreement for 450 workers, union pickets will be stationed outside the plant 24-7 until a tentative agreement is reached, Tim Carrie, president of CAW Local 27, said Monday.
Not only will the union prevent the company from removing any equipment, it will go so far as occupying the plant if the two sides can't reach a deal, Carrie warned.
"If the employer doesn't treat our members with the respect and dignity they deserve we have to put pressure on them," he said in a telephone interview.

The gates at Electro-Motive will remain closed permanently - Caterpillar announced Friday it was shuttering the locomotive plant in London. Its 450 hourly workers have been locked out since New Year's Day.
