G7 agrees action needed against tax evasion, says George Osborne

Source: The Guardian

The G7 group of industrialised nations has agreed collective action needs to be taken to target tax avoidance and evasion, the chancellor George Osborne has said.

Speaking at the end of the two-day summit of finance ministers and central bank chiefs in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Osborne said it was "incredibly important that companies and individuals pay the tax that is due".

Osborne said there was also strong agreement among the seven member nations – the United States, Germany, Japan, the UK, Italy, France and Canada – on tackling tax cheats.

"We all agreed on the importance of collective action to tackle tax avoidance and evasion," he said.

Once the tax cheats pay off those running the member nations, that'll be the end of THAT.

The wealthy use the threat that they will simply move their money elsewhere forcing everyone in a downward bidding war to keep lowering tax rates. If al the nations agreed on a higher tax rate this game would end.

Corruption stands in the way. First you must deal with the corruption and then maybe you can begin small steps toward making the tax rules more fair. Mitt Romney remains the poster boy for what is wrong with our tax code. The Buffett rule can't even pass, for crying out loud. The tax code is there to serve the 1%, always has been and that will not change any time soon.

It was the G7 until the Soviet Union fell; then, after a bit, Russia joined, but I don't think they've ever included Russia in the finance minister meetings - their economy has always been too different.

Fine own race horses and dressage horses if you can afford them.

Stop the massive tax deductations for these luxury hobbies!250k romney deducts for his 'part share' in a horse.

Be better for the poor horses too. It's a freaking inhumane shame the trailer trash meatman takes away a horse that is used to a lifetime of great care. That horse lives days of suffering terror untill they feed that toxic meat to ignorant 3rd world people or mix it into our beef supply.

And the owners get to deduct the "loss" on their taxes!

President Obama said last on 4-18-2013.. "In the face of cruelty, we will choose compassion"

Close those loopholes Mr. President and you'll make a huge difference in tax paid & show some compassion to those without a voice.

to Switzerland as the place for unknown monies. I suggest that the UK is that evil entity. Look at the places where the money is hidden and the UK is the motherland for those places.

And my thinking is that we go to those places and just force, with military if needed, the opening of the books. Violent? Over the top? Yes, in fact it is. So is the hiding of trillions of dollars from taxes to all countries who deserve it.
