Holder: Civilian courts best to try terror cases
Source: AP
WASHINGTON (AP) Attorney General Eric Holder says those who argue that civilian courts are incapable are handling terrorism cases are simply wrong.
He says that after Sept. 11, members of Congress placed unwise and unwarranted restrictions on where certain suspected terrorists could be held, charged and prosecuted. In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Holder says many of these tired and meritless political arguments about the effectiveness of civilian courts have come up again.

The Justice Department in Washington released a copy of his speech.

(94 posts)Civilian courts have access to law-enforcement agents, to forensic investigative facilities and experts in every field. In reality politically motivated crimes are no more mysterious or complicated than lust-, anger- or profit-motivated ones. (The 4 P's of Motive).
But if the regular police were allowed to deal with these crimes, then "terrorism" would cease to be a special bailiwick, requiring 16 unaccountable, amply-funded, secret para-military agencies to combat it.... or inflame it, extirpate or expand it, or whatever else they may be doing that's none of our business.
