Issa seeks deposition from Benghazi review chairs

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican chairman of a House panel looking into the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, wants to take depositions from the leaders of an earlier review board.

California’s Rep. Darrell Issa, head of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, on Sunday said he would like to interview under oath former Ambassador Thomas Pickering and retired Adm. Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Pickering and Mullen led an investigation that examined the September attacks that killed four Americans, including an ambassador.

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California says Congress’ review seems aimed at discrediting former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and her potential 2016 presidential bid.

Issa and Feinstein both appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

When a fucking news network (actually an opinion channel) has that much political influence over the people, it's time to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.

issa asshole.

The investigation has been done. The people in power have said nothing could have been done at the time. What could have been done was to fund security for these places and Issa voted against it, as did a lot of the other loud mouths.

a fuss. So embarrassing for him.

He should just say "sorry, I blew it. I just wasted a lot of time and money on nothing."

That's what an honest person would do.

right? lol. Issa plays fast and loose with the rules. When his piloting skills were brought before the FAA, introduced legislation to change them. The "pilots bill of rights". His concept of right and wrong is clearly well, wrong.

I have been reading an old book entitled "The Age of the Moguls" by Stewart H. Holbrook. It contains a series of vignettes about the lives of the moguls of the 19th century, especially the gilded age. What a dishonest bunch of cheats they were. Issa is a throwback I fear. The Waltons too -- cornering the market, buying government favors, here a senator, there a diplomat, there a seat in the House.

Issa would have been right at home in the Gilded Age. I think we are going through the second Gilded Age. Except this time, the railroads and steel mills are being built outside the US.

a perfect example of a tea party world. I can't remember the details, but one of the reasons he was so successful in shipping was because he took a shipping route that others wouldn't take due to the danger. Many of his workers died, but at the time people needed work and didn't have a social safety net program so they signed on. Vanderbilt did work hard, sacrifice, and was smart in business, but that didn't stop him from abusing power when he had it.

Hannity claimed was available and now this administration has to come up with one. HA, it never was one. I was glad Pickering disputed Issa claim right in his face. The GOP will never give up trying to make mud pies though there is not any mud available to make them. Further waste of money and time. BTW, when is Issa going to investigate why Obama develped the story of three ladies getting released to remove attention Issa was making for himself. The nerve of the president to take Issa shine.

vs. the convictions or charges? Has he scored on any of them?

As per historical Republican methods, they usually accuse others of what they are doing. Maybe we should investigate Issa and see why he is so determined to bring Democrats down. It is an obsession.
