Va. Sheriff: Boston Marathon bombing suspect's burial legal
Source: AP @ The Boston Herald
DOSWELL, Va. The sheriff of Virginia's Caroline County says he's examined the paperwork, and the burial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev in the county appears to have been legal.
But Sheriff Tony Lippa was unhappy to learn of the covert burial after the fact. He says his department lacks the money and personnel to provide round-the-clock stakeouts at the cemetery as deputies did Friday night, which passed without incident.
Others in the area about 30 miles north of Richmond share the sheriff's unhappiness, including members of the area's Islamic community. But the woman whose actions led to Tsarnaev's burial says she has no regrets. Martha Mullen tells The Associated Press that it's difficult "to be reviled and maligned," but she felt the refusal to bury him was "detracting from the healing that needed to take place." She says her first thought on hearing about the difficulty finding a burial spot for Tsarnaev was: "Jesus said love your enemies."
Tsarnaev's uncle says a faith coalition helped make the arrangements. Ruslan Tsarni adds, "The body's buried. That's it."

(40,416 posts)I'll bet that the secret location doesn't remain secret for long.
All discussions about the location of the grave must henceforth be under the cone of silence.

(40,168 posts)I'm sure everything was done properly, including the paperwork, to avoid any challenges. Does the sheriff normally know who is being buried in the county, and where?
He's buried there, and that's that.

will go about their business now and quit finding reasons to hate everything. It is not normal to me spending your time hating dead bodies. What happens when it turns to dust. They going to hate the dirt?

Just look at people now calling for the demolition of the 'Hell House' in Ohio. It's just a house. It didn't kidnap those women. Yet it's being symbolized.

(135,425 posts)The graves are dug deep; eventually they are re-used.
He was wrapped in a seamless cloth after his body was washed and prayed over by his uncle (the one who called him a loser). The uncle was also present at the graveside. The reports I read said they placed him in the grave on his right side facing Meccah.
I hope they put some heavy stone in there as well. That is a practice if there is fear animals might get to the corpse.
