Rich-poor divide accelerating, says OECD

Source: BBC

The gap between rich and poor widened more in the three years to 2010 than in the previous 12 years, the OECD group of industrialised nations has said.

It says the richest 10% of society in the 33 OECD countries received 9.5 times that of the poorest in terms of income, up from nine times in 2007.

Those with the biggest gaps included the US, Turkey, Mexico and Chile.

The OECD says that if governments do not stop cutting back on welfare support this gap will grow wider.

I wish that our peer group was the Scandinavian countries and Iceland instead of what it actually is now...

ALL according to plan.

"They" have developed the Jobless Recovery and the Free Trade Invisible Hand Religion into a powerful bi-partisan SCAM,
complete with smooth talking Front Men, the illusion of a choice,
and diversionary Side Shows for misdirection.

Once they have it all, will they be happy? NO!

They will start consuming each other and only the richest of the rich will have what is left.

We may not like it, but when one looks at civilization as a thermodynamic self-organizing system, the appearance of hierarchies and the fact that they deepen with increasing social organization and energy flow is an entirely expected development. Most of us can't see civilization that way, though, because we've been acculturated to the view that all human action is driven by free will. Our civilization must therefore be the result of rational, deliberate choices - we cannot be thermodynamic automatons, can we?
