The new federal health care law was one of the defining issues of the 2010 midterm elections that were dominated by Republicans, and the party's leader in the Senate said Sunday he expects "Obamacare" to drive voters once again next year.
I dont know what the issues will be next year. If I were predicting whats likely to be the biggest issue in the 2014 election, I think it would be Obamacare, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said during an appearance on NBC Newss Meet The Press, according to the Washington Post. I think its coming back big-time.
The GOP has sought to conflate the emerging IRS scandal to with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) last week threatened to introduce a bill that would deny the IRS funds to hire agents to implement the law. It was =a point McConnell raised on Sunday.
By the way, the IRS has a role to play in the implementation of Obamacare, he said.

(58,162 posts)if the irs is taken out of the equation then the plans can charge anything they wish to since there will be no federal oversight.
by next year the plan should be implemented and people will see the benefits. my wife just got her companies explanation of the new plan and it looks like the same thing i do every year for my medicare plan , drug, and supplement.

(12,545 posts)when they disrupted public forums to discuss affordable health care. They used the same tactics as Germany's Social Democrats used in the 30s. If we fail to show up in significant numbers for the 2014 midterms they will get the Senate and hold the House. Remember, the Republican base are zealots and a cult that gets in line when ordered.

(5,610 posts)who actually put real people before corporations, I do not care if they call themselves the monkey party.
There is so little difference between our current corporate parties that the only difference seems to be when they are candidates. Democrats have a wonderful FDR tradition to draw from and many can do that successfully.
Unfortunately, when they are elected they fall in to the corporate cradle. Usually the democrats that run are obviously more intelligent (and seemingly more compassionate), unfortunately, post-election, the lesser of two weevils is still weevil.

(23,955 posts)in 2012 Democrats got millions more votes for house reps than republicans. Thanks to gerrymandering, the republicans retained control of the house (although they did lose some seats). In 2014, I fully expect the republicans to expand their lead in the house and declare it a Grand Victory.
The main danger is if they win the senate -- and I have to give them at least 50/50 odds on this. Then *nothing* gets done for the next 2 years.
