Lawmaker Facing Recall, On Why He Backed Gun Control: 'We Had Twenty 6-Year-Olds Shot In The Face'
Source: Huffington Post
Sen. John Morse is not backing down after gun-rights activists gathered double the amount of signatures needed to trigger his recall -- the first recall election in Colorado state history -- in response to his support of some of the year's strictest gun control measures.
But Morse responded to the recall effort with defiance. We had 20 6-year-olds shot in the face, and we have the other side arguing we should do nothing, and Im sorry, that doesnt cut it," Morse said in response to the recall effort to the Associated Press referring to the 2012's Connecticut school shooting.
On Monday, a gun rights group, the Basic Freedom Defense Fund, delivered a petition with more than 16,000 signatures (they only needed around 7,000) to the Secretary of State's office asking to recall Senate President Morse for his support of a gun control package that Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed into law earlier this year including expanded background checks to include all private gun sales and transfers and a 15-round limit on ammunition magazines.
Morse also backed a measure that would hold gun manufacturers and sellers legally liable in some cases for damage caused by their weapons, however he eventually dropped the bill when it appeared that it didn't have the votes in the Senate to pass.

(7,403 posts)He is toast.
It will be NRA money vs Bloomberg money. Advantage NRA. But the equation changes should, say, 5,000 signatures get tossed for various reasons. After all, these people get paid for collecting signatures so there is incentive to get the lists padded for extra pay. Too early to call.
Mr. David
(535 posts)No question about his criminal activities on gathering fake signatures.
Gessler has to be held accountable as well - he's also a criminal Secretary of State that needs to be removed this November from any position.
85% of the signatures will be challenged and found to be invalid. And upheld. NRA loses, and Morse wins, and continues his career.

And I have a God given right to go squirrel hunting with a howitzer. . .and no Demoncrat is going to stop me because I love my gun more than the life of my now dead six year old that shot himself because I left my manhood extension out where he could play with it.
After all, I can always make a new baby. BUT I CANNOT MAKE A NEW GUN. . .ain't that right, Mortimer. Mortimer, that's the name of my manhood extension. MY dead baby. . .ummm, I forgot. But kids don't matter. Guns do! And I'm a good guy with a gun that will stop a bad guy with a gun, after I'm doing shitting my pants.
Besides, guns don't kill people. Guns/lawn darts/string cheese/dangerous minorities kill people. We need laws to outlaw those things. YOU CAN'T TAKE AWAY MY FUCKING GUN!!!!
