Bill O’Reilly pans college GOP report
Source: Politico
That sounds pretty immature, Ms. Smith, OReilly told Alex Smith, the chair of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC), after asking why young people forgave President Barack Obama for the tough economy. It doesnt sound like a very objective analytical opinion, for want of a better word. So why should I care about this study, or why should the Republican Party care about a bunch of kids who dont know anything, and they like the guy just because hes flashy? What message does that send to the GOP?
Well, to be quite frank, Bill, if the Republican Party really ignores younger voters, or continues to do so, we risk losing every national election in the future, Smith retorted.

Well, as one of the Leaders of the GOP, I think they should listen to him.....

Which out of disgust of their party may mean more votes for Democrats.

(6,891 posts)you're screwed when the leaders of your party are talk show personalities...unless you're a Republican voter.

(7,403 posts)That is mighty racist of Bill O'Reilly, I must say. Just maybe Bill is tipping the Republican hand on why they are being rejected by all voters under the age of 55 and especially those under 29. There just are not enough angry old white men for them to continue to hold office -- their voters are dying off.

And if not, why not?

(1,009 posts)within the GOP that are trying to earnestly right the ship, so to speak. They're still wrong-headed on the economy, but are correct on the social issues. But they're shouting into the wind when they're trying to get into power.
They have swallowed the false peans of the conservative ideology in regards to the economy because they're listening to the rich folks like Romney and the Koch brothers saying things like, "Do it our way, that's how we got our money." So they're wrong there. But they haven't sucked up to the fundies who espouse the "Gheys are the bad," "No contraceptions for anyone," and other intrusive "small" government policies.
and if the pockets of sanity to which you refer begin to see the Republican Party as a whole for what it is
Then the Republican Party is done for.

(1,009 posts)members who have been correct on social issues. That number, as we are well aware, is dwindling as I type. Those correct-on-social-issues GOP members have either switched to become independent or joined the Democratic party, or have faded away into obscurity. Nonetheless, there are (or were) some at one point.

(12,618 posts)I used to watch you go into hissy fits about people who opposed the Iraq War while you were oh so in favor of it. You screamed at them to shut up, told them they were un-American, told them they were fools, and a whole host of other things. Later I watched you backpedal and make excuse after excuse as to why the Iraq War was such a great thing.
Meanwhile, I, along with many others in college, were out choking on tear gas in opposition to the Iraq War. I think history has proven us right. So if anybody doesn't know anything, that would be you.
