Greek court suspends ERT broadcaster closure
Source: BBC NEWS
A Greek court has suspended a government order to close state broadcaster ERT - a move that triggered mass protests in the country last week.
The top administrative court said ERT could resume transmission until a new national media body is set up.
Meanwhile, talks are ongoing between Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his coalition allies over the issue.
Mr Samaras, who says ERT is corrupt, has reportedly offered to restart a trimmer version of the broadcaster.

Greek PM offers to revive state broadcaster - government source.
(Reuters) - Greece's prime minister has offered to reopen a pared-down version of the state broadcaster under temporary management and reshuffle the cabinet, a government official said on Monday, to try to defuse a political crisis and avoid a snap election.
ERT's abrupt closure last week in the name of austerity to please EU and IMF lenders triggered a deep rift in the ruling coalition, throwing the debt-choked nation back into turmoil just as faint hopes of a recovery had begun to sprout.
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras made the offer to revive the broadcaster during talks with his coalition - allowing the two junior parties, the Socialist PASOK and Democratic Left, to pick the deputy minister who will oversee it in a transitional form.
"It's a last-ditch move by the prime minister to reach a compromise and avoid elections," the official said.

Greeces governing coalition avoided collapse on Monday night in the wake of a dispute over Prime Minister Antonis Samarass decision to close the state television broadcaster.
Mr Samaras announced his decision to shut down Hellenic Broadcasting Corp (ERT) on 11 June, axing nearly 2,700 jobs, in a bid to meet austerity targets. The decision to close the broadcaster had initially risked breaking apart the deeply divided coalition, with Mr Samarass key allies threatening to revolt.
But last night, after more than three hours of talks, the Prime Ministers centre-left minority partners said talks would continue this week on how to keep the service going until a new public broadcaster was put in place.
A government official, who asked to remain anonymous, said Mr Samaras had offered his coalition allies - the Socialist Pasok and Democratic Left - a summer Cabinet reshuffle and greater influence in ERTs transition.
