State Rep. Brian Aldridge, parents indicted in Lee County on embezzlement charges
Source: Associated Press
JACKSON, Mississippi -- A Lee County grand jury has indicted state Rep. Brian Aldridge of Tupelo and his parents on embezzlement charges.
The 36-year-old lawmaker is founder and executive director of a charity called Touched By An Angel Ministries, which has operated a camp near Tupelo for disabled children and adults. If convicted, he would have to resign the Mississippi House seat he has held since January 2004. The Republican represents District 17, which is entirely in Lee County.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said the Mississippi attorney general's office issued arrest warrants Tuesday for the lawmaker and his parents, Louis and Janice Aldridge.
Johnson told The Associated Press that he had been in contact with Brian Aldridge, who was on an out-of-town trip and was more than 10 hours away from Tupelo on Tuesday.

(6,286 posts)absent anything that can be Googled. This story was linked in my local paper, and since it involves Republicans behaving badly, I thought I'd post it. I've never heard of the guy before today. Sorry, I wish I was more help.

(602 posts)Of all the backwater places stinking to high heaven of right-wing politics, at least they have enough morality left in the tank to go after a bad guy, even if it is one of their own. That gives me hope for the world.
