Monteith was 31.
The Canadian-born Monteith was open about his battles with drugs and entered rehab a few months ago.
Raised by a single mother, Monteith first started battling drugs and alcohol when he was 16. He credited an intervention three years later with turning his life around.
Monteith had a series of guest roles in shows like Kyle XY, Supernatural and Stargate Atlantis. On the big screen, he had small roles in movies like Whisper and Final Destination 3.

(297,287 posts)I imagine his Mom, family, and all his Glee friends are devastated. Not to mention his fans who have gotten to know his talent over the years.
I always check out Glee in season.. I like the singing and dancing mixed in with their angst and victories.

(5,162 posts)Why is it that when someone famous OD's, it's all about the tragedy. One person had ALL the resources anyone would want, even people. All this and he dies?
Some poor guy OD's in a hotel room. Nothing.
