Federal Judge Temporarily Blocks North Dakota's New Abortion Law.

Source: nyt/reuters

A federal judge on Monday temporarily blocked North Dakota's new abortion law, which bans procedures to end pregnancy once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, as early as six weeks.

U.S. District Court Judge Daniel Hovland granted a preliminary injunction on the law, the most restrictive in the country, which was to go into effect August 1. The ruling was in response to a lawsuit filed by Red River Women's Clinic, the only abortion clinic in the state.

that the rwers managed to accomplish. Sad and scary. Do they do anything else but poke around in women's health care?

What these legislatures are doing is wrong, but I only see this going all the way to the Supreme Court and ending w/ Roe V. Wade being overturned.
I don't know what the answer is, apart from replacing a couple Supremes.

It's too valuable to the RW as a way to stir up the base.

It will not go away.

But the true zealots have taken over. They want Roe overturned and if they can't do it they will settle for shutting clinics, whittling away at the reproductive freedoms that remain. These idiots are not just anti abortion, they are anti contraception, anti education, anti information.

They are capable of doing plenty of damage without overturning Roe.

This is coming at us like an avalanche. It wouldn't take anything for the court to take one of these cases and either gut Roe v Wade or overturn it completely.

This court has proven it's not shy about overturning laws that have stood on the books a long time. Look at Citizens United. The Fascist Five took a narrow case, expanded it and overturned 100 years of precedent.

People who are saying that they will keep Roe around for a wedge issue are fooling themselves and everyone else. They are dying to get it back into the states. If we don't get one of the Right-Wing justices off the courts now, we're dead.

But hey at least they can boast on campaign ads "I have a pro life anti Obama conservative voting record!"
