Path to recalling Filner clears

Source: San Diego Union-Tribune

The path to recalling beleaguered Mayor Bob Filner became much clearer Thursday as more business leaders called on him to forego that process and resign amid a sexual harassment scandal that has made national headlines.

One of the obstacles in the way of the nascent recall movements had been the murkiness of the city law that dictates the rules for how to oust an elected official. The City Attorney’s Office issued an opinion that the law allows simultaneous attempts to recall an official until one of them qualifies for the ballot.

In addition, the opinion stated that a six-month prohibition on subsequent recall efforts is only triggered by a public vote on the subject, not simply launching the process.

The clarity was provided in response to competing bids to recall Filner by LGBT Weekly Publisher Stampp Corbin and land-use consultant Michael Pallamary. They have each taken initial steps in the recall process and the two disputed which is the legitimate effort under the law.

Because he certainly won't get any respect from his city.
Although, stranger things have happened. :/
...I had to throw in a cliche.
