France to wait for U.N. inspectors' report on Syria: Hollande

Source: Reuters

President Francois Hollande said on Friday France would await the conclusions of U.N. inspectors investigating last month's chemical weapon attack in Syria before deciding on any action.

"We shall await the report of the inspectors just as we will await (U.S.) Congress," he told a news conference after a summit of G20 nations in Russia's St. Petersburg, referring to an expected U.S. vote on military strikes.

For some strange reason this administration wants to wants to bomb Syria badly. Kerry is selling it to congress...or trying to sell it to them, and right here on this site the cheerleaders for misadventure are carrying the water for this war.

but they are atleast taking a longer look at it than the prior administration did because lets face it if this was still the bush administration with the republicans in charge of both houses we would have already bombed and invaded them with thousands of troops.

This is not our battle.

We should not be bombing Syria.

Supplying the rebels and letting them take care of their own destiny is better.

Once the USA starts bombing Syria the reality changes to one of civil war (which is an internal matter) to one of a war which the USA has taken direct action: allowing the Syrians to target US interests in retaliation.

What will be the excuse then? Boots on the ground?

though your way isnt much better as it leads to a pre WWII Germany like mentality and we all know how that ended up for a few million people.

I have no idea why he pulled a Bush and played the WMD card before UN inspectors had completed their own job. Deja Vu.

Not that I am for the military strike but waiting for confirmation from the UN, with a fresh news cycle of ghastly images to remind us, would have solidified his case to attack.

And if the UN inspectors found the chemical attack was perpetrated by rebels, or there was inconclusive results, then there would be no doubt Congress would vote it down and Obama could personally wash his hands of the matter.

His initial cowboy approach...."We don't have to wait for no stinkin UN confirmation....WE know better" has put Obama in a no win situation politically.

A French report "concluded only the Syrian government could have carried out the attacks."

http://www.latimes.com/world/worldnow/la-fg-wn-france-evidence-syria-20130902,0,1163653.story

So even though France claims it has 'undeniable' evidence, it hasn't decided on any action? It sounds like total BS to me.

If France really had 'undeniable' evidence it wouldn't need to wait on any other report to make a decision on action.

Hollande and Fabius are worse than Obama and Kerry. They all must sign with their blood some kind of pact with the devil to give us again the neo-con playbook with a wimpy humanitarian cover. Ugly, shameful, the words fail me, and in the midst of all this disgrace the woes of Obama are so big that he gets all the attention and hides the french mess of middle east policy.
