Grayson gets new Republican opponent
Source: Orlando Sentinel
Another Republican has jumped into the race to challenge U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson -- and this time its Carol Platt, an executive with the Osceola County Association of Realtors with longstanding ties to the Bush political dynasty.
Platt worked on both George W. Bushs run for president and Jeb Bushs run for governor and she was appointed by Jeb Bush to serve on one of Central Floridas local community college Board of Trustees. In joining the fight for Floridas 9th Congressional District, Platt joins at least two other Republicans -- Jorge Bonilla Jr. and Peter Vivaldi -- looking to defeat one of the most outspoken Democrats in the U.S. House.
If I am honored to earn enough Republicans support in the primary, the differences between Congressman Grayson and I will be plentiful in record, views, substance and style, she said in a statement.
Shell have a tough hill to climb, however. The 9th Congressional District, which includes Osceola County and parts of Orange and Polk, is heavily Democratic and Grayson is a prolific fundraiser.

"the differences between Congressman Grayson and I will be plentiful." Yes, they will, Grayson will continue to speak proper English and you'll sound like the fool you are.

(12,882 posts)this CALIFORNIAN will send cash to the honorable congressman Grayson - as I'm sure MANY non-Floridians will - and you'll have run for naught. Enjoy your futility!

(11,841 posts)It irritates the hell out of me when people do that. It just drops your credibility and makes you no better than the other guy.

(10,434 posts)I think Grayson's one of the best fighters for people who work for a living we have. Maybe you two don't need to work, but millions do.
So please, which "fake quotes" did you hate?

(10,434 posts)You're right. I was really disappointed that Grayson did that. It wasn't needed.

I lost all respect for him since then.

(10,434 posts)Did he also take a $78,000 tax deduction for his pet horsey? Does he have his money hidden offshore? Is he a sadist? Does a billionaire consider Grayson his personal lackey?
I don't see the resemblance. Please explain.

You probably have never met Grayson himself.

I have to agree with your assessment. He reminds me a lot of Kucinich and Weiner--GREAT talkers. Fire up the crowd, good old barn-burning rhetoric, but.....where's the legislation? Where's the comity? Where's the teamwork and sponsorship? Where's the slogging work to get co-sponsors for desired legislation?
A one-man band.....
That said, I'd prefer OUR one-man band to theirs!

(3,544 posts)Give me a break. Yeah, I admit that was not the right thing to do, but they all do it. I'm sure he learned his lesson as I have not heard anything similar since then. Is no one allowed a second chance anymore? Grayson is one of the most upfront politician I've seen in ages. I especially love his views in support of the middle class. He touches subjects no one else will, and tells it the way it really is. I'd vote for him as president in a heartbeat. And now he's running against a Bushy. She don't have a prayer.

That gnat should be squashed into nothingness.

(978 posts)Wonder what platform Carol Platt will be running on.
By the way, the word "Platt" in Norwegian means something flatly boring....
Hence, the "good luck" to the neocon with Bush ties. She'll need it.
