Gov. Snyder's NERD Fund paying for Kevyn Orr's condo

Source: Detroit Free Press

Gov. Rick Snyder’s secretive nonprofit foundation is paying for Detroit emergency manager Kevyn Orr’s condominium in a previously undisclosed financial arrangement.

Snyder’s NERD Fund, which stands for New Energy to Reinvent and Diversify Fund, is footing the rental bill for Orr’s two-room condo at the Westin Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit, Orr spokesman Bill Nowling confirmed.

The relationship, which is not illegal, means that’s Orr’s compensation for serving as emergency manager is larger than previously believed.

The NERD Fund, which raises money from private donors who are not legally required to disclose their identities, has come under scrutiny because of its role in funding the governor’s operations. Imagine a governor or a mayor having their living expenses paid by a private party. One clear question: do any of the private donors paying Orr's living expenses have any interests in the Snyder ordered bankruptcy?
