Harry Reid Shoots Down Ted Cruz On Defunding Obamacare

SAHIL KAPUR – SEPTEMBER 23, 2013, 4:27 PM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) objected on Monday to Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) request for unanimous consent to pass the House's continuing resolution to defund Obamacare.

Reid also objected to a request by Cruz to hold amendments to the CR at a 60-vote threshold, which Senate rules allow the majority leader to do, in certain cases, with 51 votes.

"I try to follow the Senate rules," Reid said on the floor. "Sometimes they are obnoxious, and I wish they were different."

Cruz then launched into a lengthy speech making his case for defunding Obamacare.

Unwilling to think with their brains. This is a money raising activity for Cruz, lies to fill his pot, he is just no good. As a Texan I sure don't like his operation, I hope in the next election we can send Cruz packing.

Reminds me of Pelosi. She simply can't find a good, powerful theme and stick to it to save her life. Instead, it's fucking rambling and trying to argue on the opponent's points and turf, and losing everyone in the process.

If the Affordable Care Act is now only ever called "Obamacare" then the lies spewed by the junior Senator from Texas should be called "Cruz Missiles."
