It supposedly makes the story more real.

rapist gets to keep his anonymity.

They DID need to have their names used, to make themselves "more real" to the public and get their story out.

And that's the problem.

They're named in this KCUR public radio report from July 2013 as well as various articles in the Northwest Missourian newspaper when they were being investigated, like here and here...the 2nd article I linked even has a photo of one of the rapists! The St. Joseph News-Press has a photo of another one of the rapists, here.

reading didn't name the 15 year old, and stated that he wasn't being identified due to his age.

I'm all for bringing bad people to justice, but I feel uncomfortable about these groups like anonymous releasing info directly to the public instead of privately to law enforcement (besides the corrupt local cops).

on the story. My issue is that they need to do this to get any kind of justice at all. The 17 year old rapist got off without consequence until this was raised again and the girls came forward.

So it is not a secret and their rights have not been violated, they chose to come out and show their faces and tell their stories. Good for them. Let see the boys involved show their faces!
