Alan Grayson: 'The Tea Party Is No More Popular Than The Klan'

Source: Huffington Post

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) said he thinks it's time for the tea party -- and those "willing to cater to it" -- to get out of Washington.

During an interview Thursday with MSNBC's Al Sharpton, Grayson said Americans are "appalled by the tea party's tactics." The congressman said the right wing "has become the largest suicide pact in history," and predicted voters will push tea partiers out of Congress in the next election.

"They want their money back and they want the tea party out of their lives," Grayson said. "At this point, the tea party is no more popular than the Klan."

-snip-

"The fact is that John Boehner has become a short-order cook for the far right wing," Grayson said. "'Would you like some french fries or cheese with that?' That's what he does. He takes whatever they want and he lays it out there as if it's the right thing to do."

-snip-

Grayson added that Boehner "has to go. Everyone who's willing to cater to the tea party has to go, so Americans finally get the government they deserve."

For me, the Tea Party is clearly a case of ''Southern Strategy'' chickens coming home to roost. The Repubs (Nixon) whored themselves out to the racist good ol' boys looking for a new home after LBJ got the Civil Rights bill passed, and now they want to complain because they've contracted an STD (Stupidity Transmitted Disease).

The only difference between the two groups is the tea party members don't wear the white sheets.

So it is premature to write them off just yet. In fact this is roughly the same percent as before the government shutdown started. I'm not sure the American people have woke up to just how horrible they really are yet. Also, the election in Virginia is still fairly close and the margin there may have to do with the baggage the tea party candidate carries beyond just being a member of the Tea Party. Plus it would not surprise me if a Tea Party candidate topples incumbent Republican Senators in 3 of the 4 races they expect to contend for, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Mississippi.

There is a hidden gem in there - Booker took 49% of Somerset County to Lonegan's 50%. Sharp contrast to where folks voted in 2012 for Lance (Represents the 7th). This was on a Wednesday - and a special election. Somerset County is fair game in 2014 - and Lance hurt himself by pulling back on his initial commitment to vote for a clean c.r.

We have to turn them back seat by seat. We can't go after the TEAS - we can attack in a full court press those 21 Republicans.

Why the mainstream media gives such a pass to their extremism and bigotry is beyond me. They don't bring on a KKK spokesperson to talk about Obamacare, why a Tea Party member?
