AR-15 Reported Stolen From GOP Rep's Unlocked Garage
Source: Talking Points Memo
Rep. Renee Ellmers' (R-NC) husband reported an AR-15 rifle stolen from the family's unlocked garage last week, the Raleigh News & Observer reported Tuesday.
Brent Ellmers reported that a rifle, gun case and a GPS were stolen from the family's home in Dunn, N.C., according to Chief J.D. Pope. The rifle had been left leaning against a gun locker in the unsecured garage after a target shooting outing, according to a police report. The report didn't indicate whether the rifle was loaded.
Rep. Ellmers' communications director Thomas Doheny confirmed to the News & Observer that several items were stolen from the congresswoman's home. While he wouldn't disclose further information, Doheny said the rifle belonged to Ellmers' college-age son.

(1,301 posts)Went to this restaurant. The country ham & eggs were great, but I was a bit creeped out by the sign that said "No cursing please... Jesus is Lord!"

(237 posts)Were the waffles at least triangular? And did you tell them they forgot to put the words "beerand" at the beginning of their sign?
beerandjesus
(1,301 posts)But it was actually the restaurant that was triangular, not the waffles. Alas.

side note:
I don't particularly have anything against religious folks... but the 'jesus is lord' would have kept me from even inquiring on the shape of their waffles
I don't believe in mixing politics, religion, and business (pick any two). call me crazy.

THEIR AR 15.
That's why.
They can try to scape goat this onto their kid all they want... all politicians will find someone else to blame for their misgivings or wrong doings to save their own asses and political career.. especially right wing ones.
Personal responsibility my ass.

(48,121 posts)Someone breaks in and steals something from your home. Should we victim shame them for not doing enough to protect their self?
Maybe someone in the home drank too much and forgot to lock the door, guess it would be their fault they got robbed - or their fault is something else happened to them?

(8,462 posts)If the gun safe itself was taken then it would change from pure negligence to at least did the minimum required.
If the gun fell down and shot a bystander does that make the gun owner a victim? Gravity did it ya know. Responsibility or liability end when they let go of the weapon?
The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)and removing something. If a guest had gotten in(someone you expect to be in there) or it had fallen over and shot someone, etc, those would be all different cases.
It is now negligent to leave a tool you own in your own home because you have no reason to expect your home to be safe? Hopefully people are locking themselves up because they might get beaten/raped if they don't ensure their own safety in their home (which, apparently, people don't want them to use guns to do.....)
