NEW YORK Wed Nov 20, 2013 6:06pm EST

(Reuters) - U.S. Representative Grace Meng, a Democrat from New York City, was struck in the back of the head and robbed of her handbag Tuesday night, her office said on Wednesday.

Meng, elected last year and the first Asian-American member of New York's congressional delegation, was walking toward her Washington, D.C., apartment when attacked, the statement said.

Meng suffered a bruise on her chin and underwent a CAT scan at George Washington University Hospital, and has since resumed her regular activities, the statement said.

7/24 coverage in every location is not possible. Police investigate and sometimes make follow-up arrests, but can't be everywhere to prevent everything.

What kind of human hits a woman or man in the back of the head and then steals her belongings instead of checking to make sure she is okay or alive? I wonder how many other people this violent criminal has killed or maimed?
