GOP men tutored in running against women

Source: politico

The National Republican Congressional Committee wants to make sure there are no Todd Akin-style gaffes next year, so it’s meeting with top aides of sitting Republicans to teach them what to say — or not to say — on the trail, especially when their boss is running against a woman.

Speaker John Boehner is serious, too. His own top aides met recently with Republican staff to discuss how lawmakers should talk to female constituents.

“Let me put it this way, some of these guys have a lot to learn,” said a Republican staffer who attended the session in Boehner’s office.

It's rational for republicans to look at that gap and consider how better to talk to women.

Hypothetically, it is also rational for democrats to look at that same gap and consider how better to talk to men.

Since married women's voting behavior is much more like men than like single women, I think it's urgent.

1) Don't call them chicks, babe, toots, or sweetie. Skirts hate that.

2) Do not discuss or mention rape or abortion, ever. You know nothing about these topics.

3) Under no circumstances are you to discuss any aspect of "lady parts".

4) Do not touch them. And if they happen to touch you, try to not act creepy in response.

5) If they appear to be alone, do not ask them "Hey, where is your husband?". If you forget and you do ask that question, don't WINK WINK afterwards.

6) When answering their questions, do not direct your answers to their husband if he is there. Speak to them directly, but again, try not to act creepy.

7) Remember, and this can't be stressed enough, don't act creepy.

8) Avoid comments regarding their appearance, like "Nice rack", or phrases of surprise regarding their appearance like "Wow, hubba hubba".

9) Do not tell single women who don't have kids ... "Hey, tick tock, tick tock!"

10) Do not ask them to get you a drink or make you a sandwich.

Importantly, these rules apply to all group settings, or situations in which you are potentially being recorded.

These rules do not apply and can be disregarded if you are alone with the woman.

All good advice but someone has to make the coffee.

Do you know why women have smaller feet than men?

So they can stand closer to the sink while washing dishes.

I can say stuff like this when my wife is not reading over my shoulder!!! Now, I'm off to do the dishes, fold the laundry, and make coffee before she wakes up!!

Women in the store used to cut me off at will. They "knew" I'd let them go first, and they'd sort of dare me not to.

I learned and figured out how to "take the right of way" back.

Now they don't cut me off anymore ... especially if they want me to reach something up high and in the back for them.

oh ... I would have responded sooner, but my wife was watching.

their attempt to placate their extreme right wing has come back to bite them in the ass.

it`s going to be a bit difficult to say we are sorry to the women when they have to actually be trained on how not to offend them.

Yet Republican incumbents appear eager to avoid the mistakes of some of their predecessors.

Rep. Scott Rigell, who is running against a Democratic woman next year, said he wants to focus on economic issues, not social issues.

“I look at it this way — I wake up every day not thinking about the social issues,” Rigell said. “I sought office because I know we can do better on job creation and I’m also concerned about our fiscal trajectory.”

Rigell, who said he gets his best counsel from his wife, also said he wants to focus on issues that benefit the “full fabric of our communities.”
