Only 1/3 of US teen girls have received full three doses of HPV vaccine that protects against cancer

Source: Daily Mail

Only one third of teenage girls in the U.S. have received all three doses of the HPV vaccine - and few people understand its effectiveness against cancer, a new study has found.

Data from the Health Information National Trends Survey from 2012 to 2013 showed that 1,417 people were 'vaccine relevant' - but just 33 per cent of teen girls had received all three doses.

And even fewer boys - around 5 percent - have gotten vaccinated against the human papillomavirus, a virus which can cause cervical, anal and vulvar cancers, the study found.

The study, which was presented at a meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research on Saturday, also found that black, Hispanic and low-income women were less likely to have received it.

I'm sure the 2/3 who haven't received protection from the vaccine will be gratified to know that they are front-line fighters in the ever-popular-among-oldsters "war on young people having sex".

These affected, and potentially infected, youth should be pleased that their morals are being safeguarded. If they should morally waver, and have sex (shudder!), then they will have no-one to blame if things get ugly, which is, of course, as the skygods intended.

the vaccine is very painful. We started our daughter on it as soon as she was old enough and she was finished with the 3 injections before she turned 11. We thought we were more likely to complete when she was younger and less likely to object.

the anti-vaccination advocates have been influential.

Something like this is shown to be highly effective, yet parents think the shot is worse than the disease it is known to prevent.

Statistically, anyone's little girl is far more likely to end up in the morgue from texting and or phoning while driving than from the type of cancer this vaccine "protects" against.

You love your daughters, take the damn cell phone away!

Fewer than 4,000 deaths a year come about because of the type of cancer associated with the HPV and genital warts that the vaccine supposedly prevents.

From,the industry's Guardasil (Offical website)
GARDASIL is the only HPV vaccine that helps protect your child against 4 types of HPV.

In girls and young women ages 9 to 26, GARDASIL helps protect against 2 types of HPV that cause about 75% of cervical cancer cases, and 2 more types that cause approximately 90% of genital warts cases.
In boys and young men ages 9 to 26, GARDASIL helps protect against approximately 90% of genital warts cases.
GARDASIL also helps protect girls and young women ages 9 to 26 against about 70% of vaginal cancer cases and up to 50% of vulvar cancer cases.

GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone, nor will it protect against diseases caused by other HPV types or against diseases not caused by HPV. GARDASIL does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so future cervical cancer screenings will be important for your daughter. GARDASIL does not treat cervical cancer or genital warts.

Men can catch this, and develop cancer as a result as well. Yeah, we could achieve herd immunity, likely, vaccinating only females, but WTF... Why is vaccination a burden they must bear alone? Halting the propagation of HPV should be an all-in effort.

Many, many needless cancers otherwise.
