Steve Stockman: 'Liberal Tears' Are The Best Gun Lubricant
Source: TPM
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) has a recommendation for cleaning your gun: liberal tears.
Stockman, who's a longshot candidate running in the Republican primary against Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), tweeted out a picture of a gun with a spray can that read "liberal tears." The text with the picture read: "the best gun lubricant."

Gun control is one of the topics Stockman has been trying to win support among Texans on by being to the right of Cornyn. Although Cornyn was endorsed by the National Rifle Association earlier in December Stockman has been endorsed by the Gun Owners of America, a more aggressive pro-gun group.

(1,015 posts)The authors of the report, called America Under The Gun, developed a list of ten indices of gun violence, ranging from gun homicide levels to firearm assaults to crime gun export rate (the number of guns sold in that state used in crimes around the country), and ranked each state from 1-50 along each index. They then took the average of each states ranking to determine its overall level of gun violence relative to other states. Lousiana was the highest, with an average of fifth-worst across all ten indices, while Hawaiis 45.4 ranking was the best.
A statistical regression comparing these rankings with strength of gun law found a correlation between weak gun laws and violence levels as measured by the 10-index average. Comparing a states relative ranking in strength of gun law (as judged by the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence) to a states relative gun violence ranking yielded clear evidence that states with looser gun laws contributed more to the national gun violence epidemic:
While many factors contribute to the rates of gun violence in any state, our research clearly demonstrates a significant correlation between the strength of a states gun laws and the prevalence of gun violence in the state. Across the key indicators of gun violence that we analyzed, the 10 states with the weakest gun laws collectively have a level of gun violence that is more than twice as high104 percent higherthan the 10 states with the strongest gun laws.

(3,596 posts)It is one thing to have differences on policy, approaches to solutions, etc. In fact it is the clash and contrast of ideas that arguably keeps a democracy healthy.
But today some of the people running for office or holding office have lost any sense of respect for public service. Serving in Congress isn't about yelling "liar" at the President during the State of the Union. Serving in Congress isn't about calling the President names and making statements about him that are utterly false.
Serving in Congress isn't about talking up "2nd Amendment" solutions when you are unable to win elections.
But these cretins have debased public service. Congress has never been very popular with the American people but the current batch, especially in the House, have driven the public's approval and respect for Congress to historic lows.

Remember all us EVIL Libruls and illegal immigrants are taking the country away from them, so they must do all these things to keep it. Of course not realizing that those very acts to 'preserve their way' are actually turning many against them.
I say let them keep it up. The more the middle see of this the better.

(115 posts)Hey, Steve Stockman. I went through the civil rights era in Memphis, TN. Was there when MLK got killed. I was taught that when the KKK showed up, blow their heads off and take the consequences.
