Top members of hacking group LulzSec arrested

A law enforcement official says top members of the hacking collective LulzSec have been arrested, the Associated Press reports.

LulzSec is an offshoot of the loose network of hackers, Anonymous, which is accused of breaking into a string of government and corporate sites.

Fox News, in an exclusive report, says officers on two continents nabbed three LulzSec leaders early today and charged two more with conspiracy.

Fox says the authorities were acting largely on evidence gathered by the organization's leader who, according to unidentified sources, has been secretly working for the government for months.

hree top members of the infamous computer hacking group LulzSec have been reportedly arrested by law enforcement agencies in the UK and the United States. Two others are charged with conspiracy.

Law enforcement agents arrested two men from Great Britain, two from Ireland, and an American in Chicago. Charges against them are based on a conspiracy case filed in New York federal court.

The arrests were made possible, the report says, after turning the group’s "senior leader", Hector Xavier Monsegur, who is believed to be a cooperative witness after the FBI unmasked him last June.
