Netflix Ditches Rush Limbaugh After Slurs

Source: Webpronews.com

Geico Also Jumps Ship

After Mike Fossum and others reported earlier that Netflix was still advertising with Rush Limbaugh, people started calling the company, Tweeting, and canceling services.

After all this controversy, Netflix had to say something. They made a statement about their buy of ads on Limbaugh’s show.

“Netflix has not and does not purchase advertising on the Rush Limbaugh show. We do buy network radio advertising and have confirmed that two Netflix spots were picked up in error around the Rush Limbaugh show. We have instructed our advertising agency to make sure that this error will not happen again.”

Reports are coming in that insurance giant Geico, who was thought to have stayed with Limbaugh as well, is also claiming their spots were local market buys and will not happen again.

have to drop Rush to stay afloat.

Rush can spew from his bunker - and nobody will hear him.

Nice.

for radio transmission. If we can get our respective local markets to drop Rush by hitting them in the pocketbooks, Rush will be dropped from being aired. They'll replace him with something that generates revenue.

As it is, it costs the local market to air Rush. They pay Rush money to air his show, hoping that they can then charge a premium to advertisers. But if advertisers are jumping ship, then Rush is a boat anchor on their revenue.

...to ask if they were advertising on Limbaugh's show, and the guy who answered said they were. I said thank you and hung up.
Then went to Netflix and cancelled my subscription. I had been pondering doing it before this because my wife was the one who subscribed to it and she passed away last month.

I called this morning as well, and had them put ours on "hold". I gave them until April 1st, and said if we hadn't heard by then that they had dumped rush that we would call and cancel. And we're a GOOD customer.

My kids will be thrilled that we don't have to cancel. But I might wait a day or two before taking the hold off. I want to be able to call them and let them know WHY I'm doing it, and I want to make sure no other ads "slip through" accidentally.

...you don't really think they care what I think do you? All they want is the $20/mo. When the only question I asked was whether or not they advertised on Limbaugh's show, I think they got the message. Whether or not they did is not that important to me.
That's $20/mo more I have to support a more liberal agenda, and that is what I care about.

And I think all of us that subscribe should do that because it is not just enough to complain about what is wrong...it is also important to give positive feedback when they do something positive.

I just got an email response from them with the message in the OP. No "Dear Customer" or "thank you for sharing your concern". I mean, it was nice to have them respond, but how hard is it for the PR dept to be a little cordial?

(If you are reading this netflix, I'm available, and probably a lot cheaper than what you got now.)

I'm thinking, low-ranked podcast for the Monster, huge slander lawsuit win for Ms. Fluke, and a long and fitful end to a bad career.

Small justice for the damage he's done to this nation.
