Paedophiles 'streamed live child abuse from Philippines'

Source: ITV News

Police officers from Britain have joined forces with Australian and US investigators to smash a paedophile ring which streamed live child abuse from the Philippines.

The investigation, which has been going on for two years, focuses on what the UK's National Crime Agency calls "a significant and emerging threat", particularly in developing countries.

Three other investigations are taking place into live streaming of child sex abuse, with 139 Britons among the 733 suspects.

So far 17 Britons have been arrested as part of the Philippines inquiry, Operation Endeavour, which has spanned 12 countries and has seen involvement from police in the UK, Australia and the US.

You'd think with the massive surveillance they've done on all countries, child porn would be virtually wiped out.

there's virtually no chance of it happening.

NSA is not law enforcement.

How can a man be excited by a child, especially knowing that this child's life is probably going to very scarred (at least)?

I was bored yesterday and looked at our local jail inmates and the charges. Many (mostly) men (I am a man) were incarcerated for raping children. About an even amount of men and women were charged with child abuse and/or murder.

Our country has so many problems that must be fixed (politically) and yet we seem to be a nation with many pedophiles.

IMO, prostitution should be legalized and regulated. This has stemmed this despicable behavior in other countries..

Prostitution and child abuse are two very different things, with very different motives.

Sex work requires consent. I was replying to the comment that legalizing prostitution would somehow mitigate these sorts of abuses.

sex (with a prostitute) is different than child sexual abuse because the abuse isn't about sex. It's about violence. It's about control. It's an evil thing to do that needs to be punished harshly.
Prostitution is less bad. It is degrading to the prostitute and can spread STIs. But at least it's with someone capable of consent.

that it in part comes from when we were a young country, with entire families living in little cabins. You can't tell me that John & Jane & siblings didn't see/hear mommy & daddy having sex. What if daddy was a drunken abuser? What if daddy liked his daughters, with his sons watching on? Dirty little secret that spread through families (which we are still reading about) through the generations.

+

Korean & Vietnam Wars - the men were given R&R in countries that had/has child prostitution and liked it and brought that affliction back with them. Abusing their own children and neighborhood children, spreading the disease. I know only about 10% of sexual abused children abuse children when they get older, but 10% is still a lot of abusers.

+

The explosion of the internet where people could find people just like them and were/are willing to take the risks. Now they have the Dark Net to go underground with their disease, still spreading it further.

I feel it is a culmination of several factors that brings us here today discussing this still on-going problem. It seems the more hear about it, the worse it seems to be.
