Jed Udall, the 26-year-old son of Sen. Mark Udall, D-Eldorado Springs, was arrested Wednesday after Boulder County sheriff's deputies say he broke into three cars and was found with heroin in his pocket.

Residents in the 4700 block of Eldorado Springs Drive called police around noon Wednesday to report they saw Jed Udall breaking into cars, according to Sheriff Joe Pelle.

City of Boulder rangers and Boulder County deputies responded to the scene and found Udall had broken into three cars, Pelle said. Deputies found heroin, a used syringe and a spoon on Udall, who also reportedly admitted to using heroin 48 hours prior to the incident, according to sheriff's officials.

According to an arrest report, Udall told deputies that he was looking for jumper cables because the car his friend was supposed to pick him up in had a dead battery.

various complications due to a lifetime of using, kicking, using, kicking, etc. Mostly liver failure.

Don't think methadone is the answer either, that stuff is harder on your liver than heroin.

I'd say that less than 10% of the people who get strung out are ever able to live drug free again. So many overdose and don't make it 5 years into their habit without overdosing or getting killed in a deal that went bad.

You get strung out on that crap, and you have sold your soul to the devil.

if you have such experience, why that comment? it's clear from your experiences, that one does not just "shape up" from heroin.

I do have a lot of experience being around junkies in my early 20s, but was never a user. Lost a lot of friends to heroin, long before they died.

That won't stop Republicans from calling for Udall's head, though.

one where they can have a decent job
one where politicians aren't bought by big money who don't care how many of us they kill as long as they are allowed to push their product on us. GM food, bad drugs, poison in our water, etc
one where there is not a two tiered court system that allows those with money to go free while those without do not.

A lot of people feel just hopeless these days and in their depression turn to drugs.

Rampaging use among suburbanite kids and young professional types.

Yes, oxy abuse often seems to lead to it. I think Afghanistan supply is flooding the market.

Vermont governor spent entire annual address on it.

I hope he gets successful treatment.
