Marriott hotel hit with major credit card fraud scheme

Source: The Globe and Mail

The Marriott hotel chain has confirmed that guests at a number of its franchises across the United States were the victims of a major credit-card hacking scheme.

The problem was first disclosed by computer security journalist Brian Krebs, who reported that sources in the banking industry noticed earlier this month a pattern of card fraud at Marriott hotels in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Louisville and Tampa.

The breach of security took place between March 23, 2013 and the end of last year. Sources told Mr. Krebs that victims used their cards at restaurants and gift shops within hotels managed by White Lodging.

My husband insisted we get a Chase account. He used it at the company cafeteria (third party outsourced) and we received his new card this past weekend after we were notified it was compromised. Mine was not replaced because I never use it. sigh. I begged him to close that account.

but no charges were put on there... Chase sent me another before I knew what was going on.

Not bad for a big bank, but their CEO is a stroke.
