Obama Explains Putin's 'Shtick'

President Obama on Thursday rebutted the general perception that he has an "icy" relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"He does have a public style where he likes to sit back and look a little bored during the course of joint interviews. I think that's where some of these perceptions come up," Obama told NBC News in an interview airing Friday. "My sense is that's part of his shtick back home politically as wanting to look like the tough guy. U.S. politicians have a different style. We tend to smile once in a while."
Obama says the two actually have a pretty good time together.
"The truth of the matter is that when we are in meetings there are a lot of exchanges, there's a surprising amount of humor, and a lot of give and take," he said. "He's always treated me with the utmost respect."

(3,714 posts)You do know the wars in the Middle East are winding down? You do know that the war industries were deprived of a new source of revenue when action in Syria and was blocked? And that Iran may or may not pan out?
Ever since the time of Napoleon, when the west wanted to pump up their war industries and stir phony patriotism, they looked east to Russia. It's the same as it ever was. Sad to see Americans blatantly falling for the same crap again.
According to the UN, Russia is #55 of 197 countries on the world's human development index. They rose 11 places in the last two years. And that a lot of the current conditions came as a result of the implementation of the Shock Doctrine (see Naomi Klein), implemented by the USA and Yeltsin. And that Russians consider Yeltsin and Gorbachov to be the worst leaders of the 20th century? But hey, don't let a few facts interrupt your 2 minute hate.
