REGION: Activists plan events near San Onofre nuclear plant to mark Fukushima anniversary
Source: North County Times
Activist groups from throughout Southern California will converge on the San Onofre area this weekend to commemorate the first anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan.
The events include a Saturday evening memorial at the San Clemente Community Center and a protest from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday on the edge of Old Highway 101, just south of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.
Organizers expect expect hundreds, maybe thousands, to gather for the "peaceful protest/rally" Sunday that is being promoted by Citizens' Oversight Projects, an activist group that gained attention in 2006 for its work against training grounds in east San Diego County by Blackwater USA.

Ray Lutz, founder of the nonprofit Citizens Oversight group, said two charter buses will deliver more than 100 participants to the protest site Sunday.
