Michelle Obama: Michael Sam is an 'inspiration to all'

Michelle Obama on Monday called a gay University of Missouri football player "an inspiration to all of us."

In a Twitter posting, the first lady commended Michael Sam, the all-American NFL prospect, who announced Sunday that he is gay. Sam, who is expected to be selected in the league's draft in May, would be the first active, "out" football player in the NFL.

"You're an inspiration to all of us, @MikeSamFootball. We couldn't be prouder of your courage both on and off the field. – mo," she wrote.
