RNC Chairman Is All For Rehashing The Monica Lewinsky Scandal: 'Everything's On The Table' (VIDEO)
Source: TPM
TOM KLUDT FEBRUARY 10, 2014, 1:49 PM EST
Rand Paul won't stop talking about Bill Clinton's "predatory behavior," and that's quite alright with Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus.
Priebus said Monday on MSNBC that the Monica Lewinsky scandal is fair game when it comes to evaluating Hillary Clinton's potential presidential bid. "I think everything's on the table," Priebus told Andrea Mitchell.
"I don't see how someone just gets a free pass on anything. I mean, especially in today's politics. So, I think we're going to have a truckload of opposition research on Hillary Clinton and some things may be old and some things might be new. But I think everything is at stake when you're talking about the leader of the free world and who we're going to give the keys to run the United States of America."
Hillary Clinton, Priebus added, "provides a lot of opportunity" for Republicans.

Why should the RNC and their media stop the ratfucking that began with Segretti that lost Democrats congressional and senate seats and the presidency?

Proven history of the success of the method since Nixon - but really since Nixon ran against a Democrat in CA during the McCarthy era. None of these Bircher types have gone away, in fact they've seduced a new generation with Jones, Icke, Beck, et al.
Rush, Fox, MSNBC and CNN will be glad to re-run the same tapes they ran then which made their anchors like Tweety household names. It'll be a 24/7 extravaganza of Gingrich, Coulter and the gang.

They want to scare her from any idea of running. Rinse Penis knows they are going to lose again but a Hillary run (especially with Obama's database) would be a landslide. on Edit - ANOTHER landslide and the next President is going to get to make SEVERAL Supreme Court nominations.

What Mr. Priebus HAS done, OTOH, is given the Democrats a license to dissect the most intimate details of every family member of every GOP candidate. This should be entertaining considering that GOP candidates' families tend to suffer from acute affluenza.
Starting out with...
This is Jeb Bush's daughter Noelle. This God-awful photo is a booking shot; she was arrested for forging a Xanax prescription. (She also got 10 days in jail for possession of crack while in drug rehab.) Her mother attempted to smuggle nearly $20,000 worth of goods back from Paris. She's fair game in part because Jeb and Mitt are about all they've got left.

This is worse than the GOP trying to use Jeremiah Wright/Weather Underground in the 2012 election. People didn't buy it in 2008 so why are you trying to sell it to the public yet again. But at least that was only a 4 year old 'gotcha' moment they tried to use to bring down a candidate. We're now talking about a 20 year old scandal and it's not even about the person in question (it ws her husband). This is just beyond lame

(11,175 posts)Congrats on knowing your American political history!
Part of me was a little worried about 2016 presidential elections.
But if they're seriously planning on running a campaign against Hillary based on:
"20 years ago your husband cheated on you, and you stuck by him, kept the family together, and raised an amazing, intelligent daughter together; therefore you shouldn't be president!"
they're pretty much just tossing the towel in the ring, aren't they?
Or will it be:
"20 years ago your husband cheated on you, and you stuck by him, kept the family together, and raised an amazing, intelligent daughter together.........BENGHAZI!"
Which really isn't any better.

(12,287 posts)and believe me the normal Republicans around here are getting feed-up with him. They didn't like him to begin with because he is such a sniveling little creep. There was a letter in Voice of the People in our local paper today from an "Eisenhower Republican" who is begging other republicans to vote them out. More and more of them are writing in at how dismayed and shocked they are at the letters the hard right have been sending in and how crazy they sound. So, let them keep sounding like little kids going na,na,na,na,na...they don't think they sound crazy, they actually think they are spreading "the word". They believe Fox.

(41,832 posts)I think its important. It illustrates that Hillary Clinton was for single payer for a long time, Priebus said. Hillary Clinton will present many opposition research opportunities for us to set the record straight on what she believes and what her history is on a lot of topics.

I will always blame Bill Clinton for engaging in an unequal affair that hurt Monica Lewinsky and the country, but the Republican hypocrites that blew this up into an international embarrassment are worse.
Monica might be tempted by money and attention, and who knows what she has to say about it at this point? I tried to read her book and couldn't get through it-- thought she told all then, what did she leave unsaid?
Let Reince Priebus go after this now. It may blow up on him, in any case it gives the Democrats a lot of lead time to respond.

(45,984 posts)When I express my displeasure with Mrs. Clinton, I bring up her support for the Frat Boy's war in Iraq and for NAFTA. That's fair game, but somehow I don't expect the Republicans to bring those things up Nevertheless, if Mr. Preibus and his people want to criticize things that really are in her record or any personal decision for which she is responsible, that's fair game.
Having said that, I fail to see how Mrs. Clinton had anything to say about her husband's tacky relationship with Ms. Lewinsky. Mrs. Clinton was the wronged woman in that matter. What does Mr. Preibus expect the Republicans to gain bringing it up against her?
As for the impeachment of President Clinton, he was the president who was impeached, not her. Moreover, while the affair was tacky, it was not an impeachable offense. As for for the claim that Clinton was impeached not for being a naughty boy but for lying about it in front of a grand jury, let's not be ridiculous. If it was about lying and not the affair itself, why did House Speaker-for-a-day Bob Livingston resign not just the speaker's chair but his seat in Congress? As I recall, it was because of revelations that he had had an extra-marital affair. He never even discussed it under oath, but he still resigned. Don't tell me it was about lying and not the affair itself. The Republicans were only grandstanding for Jerry Falwell and company.
Nevertheless, no matter how Mr. Preibus and Senator Paul slice and dice it, Mrs. Clinton had nothing to do with it. In fact, she was probably, as they say, the last to know.
