Lawmaker suggests ‘duct tape’ strategy for GOP pols: Shut up until November elections

A Tennessee congressman feels confident that Republicans can pick up six seats in the U.S. Senate, if only candidates would stop talking until the November election.

“I would suggest when we nominate people we give them a roll of duct tape to put over their mouths so they don’t say stupid things, and maybe we can win an election,” said Rep. Ted Poe (R-TN) during an event Monday at the Heritage Foundation.

~snip~
He cited Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who has claimed that women are to blame for divorce, and Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who called health care law’s birth control mandate an assault on religious freedom, as some of the GOP’s best candidates.

“Let’s get on our team instead of handing the ball off – I’m the quarterback, hand the ball off to my halfback and then I tackle him,” Poe said. “Let’s quit doing that. Let’s get behind our guys.”

... and super glue duct tape on his mouth. He's got to be kidding. They live to open their mouths and spew their hateful beliefs. I say let 'em go. Let them take their big feet and stick them right down their own throats.
Let them shoot themselves in the foot. Give 'em the rope and let 'em hang themselves. Yeah, baby!

6. A better plan would be for the GOP to select their candidates now...........

Then hide them away somewhere. Buy them an extended vacation somewhere. Put them cardboard box if need be.
Then over the next months they can run pretty adds showing the conservative qualities, fiscal and family values and "take our country backness " of their great champions.
Turn old Frank Luntz loose, let him have a field day!
No chance of stupid remarks or mess ups. Just make every thing all nice and roses.
No need to worry, corporate media will buy in, or rather be bought in.

Then, a few days before the election , once the qualities of their selected are well known give the candidates a face and a name.
No need to worry, Teapublican voters will love it and come out in droves!

After all that would show the real Republican message for their plans for the country: Nothing!

And if the voters insist on knowing what you believe and the policies you support, then lie to them.

  • You have the right to remain silent when questioned.

  • Anything you say or do will be used against you in a court of public opinion.

  • You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the public and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future.

  • If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning, if you wish.

  • If you decide to answer any questions now, without an attorney present, you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney.

  • Knowing and understanding your rights as we, the general public, have explained them to you, are you willing to answer our questions without an attorney present?

Original from Wikipedia, but the above is slightly altered.

18. Well WTF do Republicans think

they've been doing the past 30+ years with trickle-down economics? They've conveniently neglected to admit to their voters that trickle-down is designed to primarily just help those who already have money, and at the expense of everyone else. All those tax cuts for the rich have to get paid for somehow. And how do they get paid for? You guessed it--either by cutting programs designed for the middle- and working-classes, or raising taxes on Americans who are not part of the upper class. Of course, we never hear any of them say that. And don't even get me started on them constantly abusing the "freedom" word...they tell the lie to their supporters that they fight for freedom, but what they don't mention is that their type of freedom negatively impacts the freedom of others.
In essence, the foundation of the entire modern GOP is based on duct tape.
