U.S. said to mull shifting Afghanistan exit plans

Source: UPI

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A frustrated White House may wait until Afghanistan has a new leader before working out a troop withdrawal and post-withdrawal troop presence, officials said.

It may also just withdraw all U.S. troops by the end of the year, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The possibility of waiting reflects an increasing Pentagon and White House belief relations with Afghan President Hamid Karzai will not improve and he probably won't sign the bilateral security agreement, or BSA, with the United States before Afghanistan's presidential elections in April, the Journal said.

"If he's not going to be part of the solution, we have to have a way to get past him," a senior U.S. official told the newspaper. "It's a pragmatic recognition that clearly Karzai may not sign the BSA and that he doesn't represent the voice of the Afghan people."

They never give up. And "said to mull" means nothing, it's just framing it in a deniable way.

What the heck does it matter to the final out come if our troops are there.
It sure matters to the troops dying and their family.
And for what!!! It is what it is, we certainly didn't win hearts and minds!

Obama wanted the US to stay in Iraq, and now they want the US to stay in Afghanistan.

Neocon, neoliberal, neo-whatever! Perpetual war and the toys that fuel it is the only thing sustaining this economy.

He was the first democratically elected President, but oh well. I guess the US knows what's best for Afghanistan.
