Book: Issa defended Hillary on Benghazi

Source: The Hill

By Julian Pecquet
February 11, 2014

The Republican leading the investigation into the Benghazi terror attack said the “failure” didn't lie with Hillary Clinton and that her “legacy” was “mostly intact” for a 2016 presidential run.

The show of support for the former secretary of State by House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is among the surprising revelations in the new book “HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton,” by The Hill's Amie Parnes and Politico's Jonathan Allen.

Issa made the comments in a December 2012 interview, at a time when Republicans were still focusing their anger on inaccurate administration talking points they claimed were crafted to help President Obama win re-election.

“When the call came in at three o'clock in the morning, the failure wasn't viewed, at least as of today, as Secretary Clinton's. It was really an Obama failure,” Issa said. “Her legacy is mostly intact for 2016, if she chooses.”

After I woke up from my fainting spell, I ran to post this article. Issa doesn't blame Hillary for Benghazi? He better inform as much to his fellow RW kooks.

Of course he still had to find blame and chose Obama, but I thought that the official GOP talking point memo was that Hillary was responsible.

But decided he had to whine about something and be a general jerk, and so he picked Benghazi out of a hat and made up a bunch of stupid lying horseshit to fling hither and yon. The rest is history.

People think it's a tragedy, but no more so than previous attacks on our diplomatic posts. The whole Benghazi thing is about dinging Obama and trying to hinder Hillary's chances in 2016. Although, recently they have moved on......to the past. Welcome to the 90s and the revival of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. I guess the only strategy the GOP has to attack Hillary is talking about her husband's misdeeds. That's so, 1950s.

As a woman, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy......

Issa also stated on Bill Maher show, actually the after the show webcast that Hillary was not responsible for Benghazi. I was listening very carefully and he did say it, look it up HBO overtime with Bill Maher.

altering the emails. If Benghazi is totally reviewed, it will become obvious that the Republican party completely choreographed the entire "scandal". They want to avoid the public knowing what they really did and so Issa is backtracking.

I'm just surprised to find out that Issa doesn't blame Hillary, considering the 24/7 reporting it on RW sites and FOX. He sure pushed the story along.
